CHECK
YOUR STATS!
CORRECT ALL FALSE OR MISSING INFO
It is MANDATORY for everyone who is registered to fight in
the IKF World Classic
Tournament to assure ALL your listed stats and information is
correct. If any of it is found to be incorrect you risk being dropped from the
tournament.
THIS INCLUDES the correct spelling of your name, city,
state you are from, trainers name, fight record, HEIGHT, age, date of
birth. So at this time we urge ALL Registered Fighters to check out their
listing. If something is missing such as your record or height, we need you to
e-mail it to us ASAP!
BAD PRINTING?
It
is VERY Possible we could not read your writing on your registration
forms. We happen to know we have A LOT of cities, trainer names, etc. misspelled
or listed incorrect because we simply could not read your writing. This has been
especially true for the faxed registrations.
- We urge EVERYONE to look at their
Fighter Registration info.
- If you are missing info or we later discover you have not given us your
TRUE info (Such as your fight record, height or more so...) you will be
dropped from the tournament. This includes your fight record in other
fighting styles such as Boxing and or Mixed Martial Arts. We need you to inform
us of this info NOW, NOT LATER via e-mail
at
main@ikfkickboxing.com
- Thank You.
NO SECOND
CHANCES!
Your opponents have listed all of their info, but are
you someone who did not list your date of birth? Height? Or something else? To
be fair to Everyone, we make ALL requested info MANDATORY!
You
will NOT be given the chance to correct or tell us your correct info AT THE
TOURNAMENT!
Once JUNE 25th, 2014 has
past, we look at all info as truthful and accurate.
IF you have any missing
info after July 6th, even your height,
you will be automatically dropped from the
tournament.
THIS INCLUDES
ANY MMA FIGHTS!
IKF
WORLD CLASSIC "TOURNAMENT" MATCHMAKING
TRAINERS & FIGHTERS
Be Aware Of Matchmaking Rules For The
IKF World Classic
TOURNAMENT...
As we begin matchmaking next week for
the IKF World Classic
Please be aware of these important
"IKF TOURNAMENT
RULES"
If you are wanting to request to move from where you
are currently seeded to another bracket or rule style.
- If there is NO OTHER FIGHTER in a fighters bracket, he/she can move to
a different weightclass or rule style at any time.
- If a fighter has at least 1 matched fighter in their registered
bracket, they cannot move unless there are 5 or more other contenders in the
division they are requesting to move from.
Since this is a "TOURNAMENT", we try to make it a "LEGIT" TOURNAMENT
match up.
Meaning we try to assure that to become a "TOURNAMENT" Champion, that fighter will fight a
minimum of 2 times to win the Title.
- If the division has 4 or more other fighters, the requesting fighter
may ONLY move to another division if it has;
- MORE Contenders in it.
- The experience level of those in the division the fighter is moving to
is greater than the bracket they are requesting to move out of.

A
FINAL THOUGHT FROM LAST YEARS IKF WORLD CLASSIC...
"I Want To Make
Sure MY Fighters ARE!"
FROM LAST YEARS
2013 IKF WORLD CLASSIC...
Quote of the day...
Today we had one of
those e-mail exchanges between a trainer attending the 2013
IKF World Classic. He had spoken to
some fighters from another camp and asked why their fighters would never fight
his. They told him they would not fight in his town but that they wanted to
fight his team on a local event of theirs. However, the trainer told them it
wasn't going to happen because he didn't trust the local event he was talking
about. The promoter ran the sanctioning body, there are no state commission
regulations that the sanctioning body is required to follow in the state where
the event is. No fighter medical insurance, no doctor at ringside, no ambulance
on site and the promoter selected all of his own officials. So they made an
agreement they would all meet up at this years 2013
IKF World Classic in Orlando Florida
this July.
Of course the main reason for this was that it was "Neutral
Territory" for the two camps to square off.
However, the trainer
went on to remind us that there were several other reasons as well.
- Matchmaking of course was a major issue as to what fighters would be seeded
where and how they were seeded. Although the IKF
Hosts the event, the IKF does not train
fighters, therefore, they don't have any fighters in the tournament, so no worry
or should we say, possible perception of favored seeding for any of the
tournaments fighters.
- In Florida, all the sanctioning bodies are required to follow State
Regulations, something a vast majority of states in the USA do not require.
- Fighters at the IKF Tournament are
required to submit a full
complete physical as well as have a pre-fight physical at the event
itself.
- For assured safety all Adult Women in are required to take a pregnancy test
at the event weigh-ins.
- All fighters over the age of
40 are required to attain additional medicals before given the green
light to compete.
- All fighters to wear the same brand, style and size of gloves and not
whatever gloves a fighter brings or wants to wear.
- Junior Fighters cannot be more than 24 months apart in age, assuring they
won't be forced into a match against another fighter over 2 years older than
they are.
- Simplicity of brackets. He said too many people claim a certain number of
fights to side-step other potential opponents by saying they have less fights
claiming most of their bouts were only "Smoker" bouts. The
IKF brackets are pretty cut and dry, 3
fights or less and over 3 fights.
- Last year the team he wanted to challenge came back bragging with title
belts claiming they had won the largest tournament in the nation. He later found
out that even though they all had over 10 fighters, whether smokers or real
fights, they won novice divisions and were awarded a belt. At the IKF Tournament, the "BELT" is
reserved for "The Very Best Amateur Fighters" in each
division. Trophy cups are awarded to the novice Champions that look forward to
winning a World Classic "BELT" as they become more skilled,
experienced and ready to compete with the "Best of the Best."
After noting all of these things between the two camps, the
trainer we were speaking with registered his fighters. However, a few days
later, the team he wanted to challenge went and registered for another
Tournament. He also told us that he was contacted by some people who tried to
persuade him to register at this other tournament as well. He asked them how
they even got his phone number since it had changed within the last few weeks.
Without hesitation they told him, "Oh we found it on the IKF tournament
website. They list all the trainers phone numbers."
After reading his story we replied after each e-mail and all of
his noted items and basically agreed that we do require more for a fighter to
compete in the IKF World Classic. We also
agreed that although the IKF Fighter
Registration fees are less than all the other tournaments, it's more expensive
to compete at the IKF World Classic if you
choose to factor in all the added expenses it takes to attend from
travel/airfare to hotel. His reply back was an eye opener as he asked;
"Why do all the American fighters always think
fighting in Europe is more prestigious than fighting here in the USA? It's like,
to them, if they get to jump on a plane and travel, the title is worth more.
However, I can't think of one fighter who won over in Europe or Thailand for
that matter that stands out. Also, where can one find the list of these
Champions? I see some names here and there but the IKF Tournament is the only
tournament, and only web site actually, that keeps full records of all past
events. Not just the name of a winner, but who they fought and how they won. (To
see the page he was referring to, click HERE) It makes a big difference if one wins a
tournament title as a novice or open, along with how many fighters they fought
to win the tournament title. If jumping on a plane and traveling means so much
to them, why not jump on a plane to Florida? They would spend less in travel and
if they win the title (Belt or Trophy), or even if they don't, at least they
would be remembered on the IKF website as one of the fighters that year that
walked the walk, win or lose, and will always be remembered as a contender at
the tournament if not a Champion."
We couldn't help but agree and we also reminded him that these
added expenses are all part of the requirement to be accepted as a fighting
contender in the IKF World Classic
Tournament, let alone become a Champion. So by the time we received his final
e-mail, he pretty much summed everything up in one sentence which to us was the
"Quote of the Day" when his final e-mail said...
It's took me a few years, but
it's OK now because I've realized the simple fact that not everyone can be an
IKF WORLD CLASSIC
CHAMPION
But I want to make sure MY
Fighters ARE!
For those who can't make
it, really, we understand... And we are sorry you will miss the opportunity.
For those who will be there, we look forward to seeing you Walk the
Walk and Bring It On!
"There Are
Other Tournaments... But There is ONLY ONE WORLD CLASSIC!"
SEE YOU IN
ORLANDO!

Paul Williams (Bournemouth,
England, 7-3-2, 85.5kg, 6', 06-10-86, Ross Phillips, 004475965514348)
Andreij
Manzolo did just what he had to in retaining the title against the man he
took it from earlier this year. The much anticipated re-match saw both men
insisting that the scorecards would not be needed but when it came to it neither
man comitted enough to make that happen.
Williams clearly wanted to stick and move to prevent Manzolo
from spoiling but for much of the contest he cam up short with the shots. Manzolo
on the other hand did less work but it all counted. You cold have argued with
giving Williams a share of the first and third rounds but at the end of
the day Manzolo did what was required, and much as he tried, Williams
could not pin him down. A unanimous decision to, and still champion Andreij
Manzolo.

Former IKF
World Champion
Mark Selbee...
One of God's Champions Now...
|
If you were to have ever seen Mark
Selbee, you would wonder what could take the life of such a strong man. At
6'4", 220 pounds Mark Selbee was in great physical shape and the
thought of him losing his life was the last thing you would think. It makes us
all realize there are some things more powerful than us all.
As many reading this might remember, Mark was a former
IKF Pro World Champion and held several
IKF titles during his kickboxing career
before he retired from the sport in 2006. However, his IKF
titles were not his most impressive by far... Mark was a Champion Father
and Husband who with his wife Amy Selbee had 3 children, Easton,
Ellie Brooke and Hudson.
Sadly, Mark lost his life in a drowning accident this
past Saturday at Hillsdale Lake in Miami County Kansas (USA) while on a
boating outing with two of his three children.
"His kids lived for him and he lived for his kids,"
said the long-time friend, Jarrod Townsend. "Mark's passion was
people. The most important people in his life were his family and his friends."
A Washburn University graduate who was born and raised in
Topeka, Mark moved with his wife and their three children from Atlanta
to Leawood about five months ago to be close to family and friends.
Between 2002 and 2006 with the guidance of Trainer Gary
Brown, Mark won four IKF
Titles:
- IKF Amateur FCR East Coast (US)
Heavyweight Title on April 12th, 2002.
- IKF Pro FCR USA Heavyweight Title on
February 1, 2003.
- IKF Pro FCR North American
Heavyweight Title on October 25th, 2003.
- Defended It on April 23rd, 2004.
- IKF Pro FCR Super Heavyweight World
Title on September 11th, 2004.
On April 30, 2005, Mark made his K-1 debut against Tsuyoshi
Nakasako at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2005 in Las Vegas. He won the fight, a
tournament Quarter Final bout, via decision after three rounds. However, he was
injured during the fight and was forced to withdraw from the tournament and
replaced by Scott Lighty.
Mark retired from fighting in October of 2006 but
continued on as a Kickboxing Trainer in Atlanta, Georgia before moving to
Kansas.
After Mark retired from kickboxing competition, he
became a kickboxing trainer in Atlanta. Townsend said he spoke to Mark
only hours before the accident Saturday. Townsend said Mark had
just rented a slip the day before and was excited to drop his boat in the water
and take the kids out.
Exactly how or why Mark came to be in the water is
still unknown. The cause of death won't be known until an autopsy. (To be
performed this week) Townsend said it would have been incredibly
unlike Mark to leave the his children on the boat alone. "Mark
was extremely responsible and his kids were his life," Townsend
said, "He was so protective of his children he would not have gone in
the water for a swim."
There is little visibility beneath the surface of the murky
lake. Sonar was used in the rescue effort, which ended when Mark's body
was recovered early Sunday evening.
A fund-raising campaign for the family has already been
established on the site

IKF Ireland
Secretary and 2013 Promoter of the year Vinny O Brien once again had
another great show in Lawlors Hotel in Dungarvan this past Saturday 3rd
May. The fight fans were treated to no less than 13 exciting bouts including two
IKF All Ireland
Title fights.
Vinny enjoyed a full house for his efforts and a great athmosphere -
not too shabby, when you consider that Irish Legend, Olympic Gold
medalist and umpteen times European & World Boxing Champion Katie Taylor
was in action less than 1000 metres away on the same night. To compete with that
kind of pedigree in a small town the size of Dungarvan and still fill your house
is nothing short of admirable. To make the night even more special for Mr. O
Brien, he was awarded his 4th Dan Black Belt for his dedication to
the sport of Kickboxing.
Here are the nights

Concord, NC- May 3rd, 2014: Grand Master Ernest Dukes of Concord, NC
should be standing very tall and feeling very proud today as he hit a homerun
with a successful Point Kickboxing Tournament this past Saturday, May
3rd, 2014 in Concord, NC. From the first time Master Dukes introduced
himself to IKF/PKB
President Johnny Davis, he has crossed every "T" and dotted
every "I" as we say here in the South in preparation for this event.
From adding the IKF/PKB
to his website to creating beautiful designed posters and flyers, he did not
miss a detail. Furthermore, the Southeast is riddled with tons of Karate
Tournaments every weekend and you could be assured that Master Dukes
would be in attendance at many of them with flyers and poster in hand
promoting
his event.
The awards he gave were in many ways
exceptional! The Facility that he
used was excellent and only had two divisions
Grappling and
IKF Point
Kickboxing which gave everyone plenty and space and leisure.
Another gym would host assorted martial artist and disciplines and was well
attended as well. Along with a separate Microphone, matted floor rings and its
own fans, the gym was loaded with enthusiastic onlookers amazed at the athletes
that showcased their amazing skills! The fighters were awesome and showed great
respect for their opponents!
The Kickboxing community really showed their support for this quiet but
proficient promoter who gave 100% effort in marketing and setting up the event!
The fans witnessed for themselves why martial arts tournaments across North and
South Carolina are buying into the excitement of IKF
Point Kickboxing
Simply put
Its
Exciting!
Promoters like Master Ernest Dukes will be one of the primary
reasons for its success in years to come! Forward March!
